Tally.ERP9

January 03, 2010: This is a landmark day. The firm where I am a partner has finally purchased the Auditor Edition of Tally.ERP9 with me as the technology partner! Isn't that fantastic?

Seriously, this software has definitely come a long way since the first windows version of Tally, namely Tally 5.4 (before that we did have Tally 5, but that version was soon replaced by 5.4). Many concerns have been raised about the widespread piracy in the field of accounting softwares, and I would admit at a personal level, Tally has always been used by most people as a pirated software, even though the pricing has been fairly reasonable (though even then people could not afford it, which is obvious)!! We are not here to discuss piracy, so we kind of stop this line of thought here itself.

Starting from creation of the company, the software is very simple to operate, now with the addition of exporting virtually any report, ledger or voucher entry into excel, it has become a software that provides ease in the preparation of the Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet of virtually any entity!! Managing inventory for traders was a breeze in this software, but for manufacturing organizations there are a few limitations in this software.
