Drastic Change - September 2024 Onwards

They say that change is a gradual process. They also say that some people take time to accept change. But what if there is a sudden and abrupt change in any one person?

Take my own case, for example. Up until September 2024, my life revolved around getting up at 6 am, going for a walk, eating breakfast, watching Instagram Reels/Facebook, eating lunch, sleeping in the afternoon, eating dinner and again going back to sleep after spending some quality time with my wife, who comes back from her job at the Gujarat University in the Department of Psychology.

Suddenly, while I was on a visit to my mother's house in Goa in September 2024, it was as if I woke up a completely different man from what I had been the previous day! My sister, her husband and son were away in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for a well-deserved holiday, and I was in Goa with my mother and her two assistants, Jhantu and Sulochana. Jhantu has been with my mother since a very long time and he had moved to Goa from Gurugram very willingly, so devoted to her that he is! The same about Sulochana, who is officially my mother's caretaker. She too moved from Gurugram to Goa very willingly, when my sister asked her.

But I digress from the narrative. I just realised that fateful day, that I have changed from an introverted, shy, indoorsy and reserved person (whom I now refer to as Vikram Shankar Mathur Version 1.0) to this amazingly extroverted, bold, outdoorsy and almost brazenly unreserved person (whom I now refer to as Vikram Shankar Mathur Version 2.0)!!

Today, I was reading the story of the actor, Ram Kapoor (see the newspaper clipping above this text) - who says that he feels that he has become his 25-year-old self after his massive weight loss and feels so light and mentally reset. Then I also recalled the story of Shri Amitabh Bachchan, who literally rebooted his career with the launch of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) so many years back! Look at him today, he is 80-plus years old and actually comese jogging into the KBC set in his suit-boot avatar!!

I may add that I also lost weight, but after my transformation to my current state. I used to weight upwards of 104 KG before September 2024, but now I am a healthy 96+ KG which rarely touches even the 100 KG mark! To tell you the truth, I was onto some medication that my doctor removed from my daily dosage, and I believe that made me partially different from my earlier self.

But I believe that it is my devotion to Lord Shankar Mahadev and Lord Vasudev Krishna that changed me, for I have been praying to them regularly to change me, since almost a year from today. Whatever ti may be, I am certainly happy to have been able to change, whether due to the reduced dosage of medicines or due to the blessings of my Lord(s).
